To the Editor:
There is a simple solution to the way-out-of-line total compensation of chief executives: return to the 70 percent marginal tax rate that existed pre-Reagan, and levy an extra 20 percent on pay of more than $10 million .
There is no earthly use for such pay, and the lower-end employees of their companies really need the money. so do the cities and states to provide education and other services.
